The Port Washington Reserve Police Unit is a group of Port Washington area citizens organized to assist the police department in times of emergency or need. The Reserve Unit provides service and assistance in times of disaster and during weather watches.
A Reserve Police Officer is a volunteer trained to perform limited and temporary police functions under the supervision of regulatory agencies. The unit is supervised by a Captain and two Sergeants, who are appointed by the Chief of Police from within the reserve unit. Members of the unit represent all ages and backgrounds.
At regularly scheduled meetings, members receive information and training in Codes of Conduct, Traffic Control, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Green Cross First Aid Training, and other interesting topics.
Anyone over 18 years of age is eligible to join the Port Washington Police Reserve. Application forms are available from the Port Washington Police Department. A thorough background investigation is conducted on each applicant. For more information or an application contact Officer Jerry Nye at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 262-284-2611, option 3.
